PhD student position in a research project investigating the effect of physical activity on brain function and aging at the Department of Radiation Sciences.

We are looking for a PhD student with a background in cognitive science, exercise science, or medicine, with an interest of how physical activity can promote cognitive ageing.
Description of the PhD project
The present PhD project aims at investigating the effects of physical activity on brain function (using PET imaging targeting the dopamine system), cognition and aging. The applicant will work in the context of Umeå Center for Functional Brain Imaging (UFBI: www.umeabrainimaging.com) as well as ALC (Ageing and Living Conditions Programme). The student will be supervised by Associate Professor Carl-Johan Olsson and Professor Katrine Åhlström Riklund.

Doktorandplats inom forskningsprojekt om fysisk aktivitets påverkan på hjärnan och åldrande vid institutionen för Strålningsvetenskaper.
Vi söker dig med bakgrund inom kognitionsvetenskap, träningslära, eller medicin som är intresserad av hur fysisk aktivitet kan användas för att förbättra det kognitiva åldrandet.
Beskrivning av doktorandprojektet
Det aktuella doktorandprojektet avser undersöka hur fysisk aktivitet påverkar hjärnans funktion (dopaminsystemet mätt med PET avbildning) samt minnesfunktioner hos äldre. Doktoranden kommer även att verka inom Umeå center for Functional Brain Imaging (UFBI: www.umeabrainimaging.com), samt forsknings programmet ALC (Ageing and Living Conditions programme). Doktoranden handleds av docent Carl-Johan Olsson och professor Katrin Åhlström Riklund.
